Take What Resonates and Leave the Rest
Take what’s resonates and leave the rest.
A sentence I use often when sharing with my clients about what I sensed during our session together.
This sentence is so important because even though a practitioner can be a neutral witness, it is still their perception of what happened, which may not always land with the individual.
Right now (more than ever!) we’re being fed info whether we seek it out or not. What I’ve found is that being inundated in this way can make me feel as though we aren’t doing or being enough. Can you relate? Whether it’s spirituality, trauma healing, pregnancy and birth, the next phase of the pandemic or whatever relevant theme to your life, it leaves so many of us feeling overwhelmed, bogged down and even helpless.
What can you do to feel empowered in this situation?
Trust what you feel.
If there's certain content you still truly enjoy, know that it can still be of benefit. But take with you only what resonates and leave the rest.
Here's an example: say there's list of 10 things to do right now to support your healing process and you feel a YES in your body-mind when reading ONLY 5 of them. Great. Can you allow the other 5 to fade away?
Here's the thing. We always know what's best for us (even in moments of doubt). In stillness or quietude, we begin to tap into our inner voice, a deep knowing or a physical sensation. Otherwise known as information.
If this doesn't come naturally to you, now is a wonderful time to practice!
First, sense when you feel the info-overwhelm. Maybe this feels like a tightness in your chest, feelings of agitation or an overall sense of "yuck." From there, expand your awareness to include your entire physical body, from head to toe.
Ask your body directly:
Does it feel good in this moment? Y/N
Trust what you feel and the first answer you receive, then make a decision from that place.
Operating from our deepest truth will help to soothe our Nervous System as we weed out unnecessary stimuli and also deepen our connection to Self.
